Here's a 1988 Trans Am race car I picked up.
I'm 6'6" so my race car choices are limited to what I can fit in.
Plan is to vintage race it on the west coast and mb Road America next spring.
http://www.historict...com/member.html
Also hopefully some fun days too with my buddies that track used Nascar race cars.
Compared to a Nascar the Trans Am car is 800lbs lighter with more tire and enuf power should be fun.
Can't wait to get it on the Miller 4.5 mile full course.
2400lbs 650hp on 110 leaded.
Protofab race car chassis built by Pancho Weaver.
Vintage race eligible, maybe have it at Sears or Coronado vintage races next year.
Weisman 5 spd trans, Brembo brakes, zero scrub geometry, Kevlar body.
Later when I get some track video I'll post it here.
It was Jerry Kuhn's car.

These are great Cars! I raced T/A from 90-93, in the Baja Boats Camero and I raced against Jerry.
This is a copy of a Protofab car that Pancho built, it is a good fast safe car, and I think Jim Derhagg still builds bodies for this car.
The Weisman trans is bullet proof don't be gentle with it needs a strong touch and no clutch.
And a plug for PDL at least buy a Stand 21 helmet ,a good seat, and Hans device!
Have fun.

You prolly raced this car, it first raced around spring of 89.
Do you have a photo or video of your Baja Boat Camaro?
You have my respect racing these back in the day!
Double check got a Hans, good seat and helmet.
My 911/RSR clone runs about the same size tire, wieghs the same but has half the hp of the Camaro.
I did not want to pay the Porsche tax on a 500+hp Porsche engine...
so the Camaro seemed like a lot more car for the same money.
But as you know you are never done paying for a race car. lol

A good friend of mine runs one of Paul Gentilozzi's old Oldsmoblies from this era in GT1 down in the Florida region SCCA.
Enjoy yours and be safe!
Thanks Ralph, safe and reliable are my goals too.
I'm in for a steep learning curve with this beast.

Ah yes thanks, missed the tool bar ... in oval we kinda lump them together, so I'm thinking scrub radius is how we look at Ackerman and caster gain (or loss) in relation to suspension (bump) travel.
Great stuff !
BTW: I do suggest you take a good hard look at the two throttle return springs if they are as shown in the above photo.
Have fun ! Be safe!

It,s the first time I had to call for a rescue, I always managed to limp home.

This was my Roush Mustang I raced in 1990 , I will scan some of the Camero
Cool, is that in your garage now?
I can’t wait to get to know what a Trans Am car feel like from the inside.
I'm just out to vintage race I has no illusions of superior race craft.
Came with spares and all the molds too...

I also trimmed the pressure relief spring a bit to lighten the load on the pump.

My main competition was Ranson Webster's ex-Goerge Loos/Jugen Barth,
10th place Le Mans finisher, #0847 '73 RSR.
Valued at $800,000, so I was extra careful around this special car.
Last two laps exiting T4 the RSR miss shifted 1st instead of 3rd.
The 2nd time it happened I was ready but Ranson got in gear quickly.
Resulting in some exciting back straight drag races to the gnarly tire wall chicane.
The race from the main grandstand.

My go pro outside, best video fo the red RSR.

My contour camera inside with driver and rear view mirror.
At about 9.20 could of shifted into 5th for 2 car lengths for the pass....
maybe best to save that move for a 911 with less history.
