The 8th Wonder of the World, "The Thingie Motel",
minus John Dilworth's car who blew his gear train and motor in pre-race practice.
Da Boyzz
Manta Ray Price already had a fresh motor with him for Bob I's Astro V.
The driver's have left the building.
The results.
5th place in the C Main should read Phil Smith.
I guess I confused the common last name.
I also have the heat by heat totals I'll post in the near future.
That'll show us the true best lap time by the Oscar, D. Zimmerman and
Ralph Klose cars. Their times shown are obviously "riders".

A nice result for me to start the day on, I wish I could have been up to watch the live feed though.
Shame that How's car was a DNS, I think most of the field have picked up a place there.
I'm trying to watch the videos of the heats, but my computer is as tired as Bob's motor.

Nice one Barney.

Your body with the super-tall, thin wheel arches in the front broke.
With the body holding the pans in, the lack of stiffness really screwed up the handling one heat.
Someone, between heats, ran strapping tape from the left to the right side to stiffen it up,
and car got good again and held onto 5th.
PS-Is your chassis hand or CNC cut?
Either way, it's awesome.

Your car only ran once.(4th in the "B")Excellent stuff.
Looks like I had 2 runs.
4th in B, and 5th in C.
Good night Chicago.
5th in the "C" should read "Phil Smith".
I guess I confused 9 total letter names that also have common last ones.

Ooooh dear (lol) that's a bit of a blow. hehe. Will the repair hold? Is that strapping tape from pan to pan across the chassis? (many thanks to the chap that stitched that together in the heat of battle) Any pictures? Damn x-project bodies. lol. It took me days to pull that 'one' successful body.
Another temporary fix for the pans would be an elastic band (not too tight) wrapped from pan to pan. This would keep the pans together, without the reliance upon the body..... I think.
J. if I can get another body pulled would it be OK to send it along to one of the future races?
Mike, The chassis is hand cut, with a piercing saw.
bugger of a job !

Major props to Barney for his win and to my buddy Jairus for his strong showing as well! Does anyone know who else besides myself, Barney and Jairus is running one of my motors or arms? I feel lousy for John about his DNS...even more so because his car was a missile according to Mike.

Great job and many thanks to Mike Swiss & the "Boyz" who are top notch drivers as well as great individuals ( I can testify to that having raced with them )

Rocket 88................20-16-36
I think Rocket 88 missed his Dynamic points for an original paint motor so, his starting points should be 30, no?

Since there are 26 cars in the proxy then I think the points should be awarded from 26 points down. So Barney would get 26 points for his win and 1 less for everybody in order. Whereas for poor Howmet, as a DNS I would say it should receive 0 points (sorry H). If a car runs but but is a DNF then it should be award points according to where it comes in the laps completed table. Mostly this would be last place. However, A DNF in this race would get a minimum of 2 points because of Howmet's DNS.
The reason I think this is fair is because in a situation (lets hope it never arrises) where several cars are DNS it does n't seem right to penalise the rest of the field by awarding them less points. For instance if there were 6 DNS top points would be only 20 which seems wrong to me.
Lets say this happened when a midfield car was performing particularly well on a certain track and came in first, it seems unfair not to award it the full complement of points because there were 6 DNSs. Do you get my drift?
Anyway, these are only my thoughts. Jairus will no doubt declare shortly.

PS. Rob, I like the way you have displayed the results with bonus points followed by race points followed by total. I think we should keep that.

I just used what Barney had posted for bonus points and made changes based on Jairus's correction. Not saying it's correct?

I agree, first place should receive the same amount of points regardless of how many cars have been entered. I just posted my interpertation of the way I read how the points system worked.
I'm sure we'll see when Jairus posts official points if not I can easily make a correction based on what Jairus says.

Attached is points (uncorrected) if race points are calc at x10 and original Dynamic points are included every race (parts may or will change as we go)
This seems to be more rep of what really happened.

But, if there were 6 DNS would they then receive 6 points each (equal last place) ,or would they receive 1 point each. and the rest of the field counted down from 26 to 7 ?

Bob, I think it was decided to add Dynamic Points just once...........26/25 points for win and one less on down the line

Okay, All cars that broke and need parts... send them to Barney. The cars will go into the mail on Monday, no time to fix until the week before the next race. That will give Mr. Dilworth time to mail any needed bits.
Al is correct, A car that doesn't start receives 0 points. (Sorry J.D.)
Seems his motor smoked some but still runs. If Barney has a replacement arm... or anyone else wants to donate an arm to the cause. Please come forward.
First place 26pts and last place 2pts. We will do this for all the races regardless to keep things consistent.
Bob Israel, I would strongly consider you changing your motor bracket over to a 36D sidewinder and dropping a couple tongue weights. You do not need to of course... but going on a diet has been strongly suggested by more than a few here, me included. Think about it.
Thanks, Ray Price for donating a new 706 motor by the way. That was above and beyond the call!
Al, there is nothing wrong with a little battle damage. But, If you want to send in another body... get busy and git'er done!
Rocket 88 has 35 bonus points. (Tongue 10 Front axle 10, Front wheels 5, Motor 10)
Congratulations Mike Swiss for being a fantastic race host! Indeed the bar has been set impossibly high in the very beginning.
Did I miss anything?
(Still working on the points. Will post again shortly)
