What more could you ask from a Thingie?

Actually the rules clearly state one car per entrant. I did that after I started counting the number of cars if all the entrants sent in two! Just knew I could not afford the postal charges. If you remember, 2006 there were 50 entrants in two classes. But most of the tracks were in Europe and DRIVEN around personally. One nail biter happend when the cars had to be mailed across the channel to the U.K. Remember that Low?
Now, just imagine my nail biting worries having to mail the cars 6 or 7 times with a few "special deliveries" between close tracks.
So how did Kempson and Zimmerman (and I) manage to get two cars into the race? I sold one of mine to someone who wanted to race but didn't have the time to build. "Miss-K" is entered by Kathryn Bartlet, while"Aculeus" is entered by young Dominic Zimmerman who loves slots! Perfectly legal.
I think we are sitting on 25 cars total!
Took a few group photos yesterday, will have to post one.
As for the track timing harness... it's not here yet.
And the manufacturer is NOT answering my email requests.

Rotor,
No need to build, send in that #66 car,..... just add a little more wing and some ex-tre postage.
Question: Do Wankel's have combustion...Chambers?

Look HERE FOR COOL WANKLE ENGINE ANIMATION
When I raced Autocross in 1972 it would blow their minds to see the twin spark plugs Mazda used to burn that long chamber!

Yeah...I gotta get me one of those bodies for next year's race!

Great idea for a theme there John! Keep the Raynoda studio busy I suspect.
Incidentally, lest you think I chose that pic because my car was front and center.... here are all the cars in various shots and arrangements, based on color only.

Hey there Jairus...yeah something like a "Choti only Proxy" Of course, the bodies wouldn't look half as cool without some JHW paint on there!

SUPER COOL . Jairus, I know i said it before but thanks again for all your work. Three things, I sent some extra junk with my car but I don't see it in the box. I am sure it is, just can't see from the angle. I also noticed not all cars have a number as specified in the rules and lastly in the Fotki album, pic 8/22 there is a slot car in the lower left of the left most showcase. Tell the owner I will go up to $100 on that one. Talking cash money .
Joe, everyone's spare parts are in marked bags or bottles or containers. (being listed on ebay as I type....)
While the boxes will only contain the barest minimum to keep shipping weights down, all the parts are safe.
I have listed what is available under the lid of each box. If a car has a motor breakdown, I will send it directly to the track for installation. I figure that is the cheaper option than shipping the extra weight around the planet! If a car fails during the race, it is doubtful that anyone will have the time to fix it there and then.
As for stuff being for sale in the pictures I posted. No! Steve is not selling anything. He's collection is impressive and it's... well... HIS!!
About next years proxy... I am not going to host it!
I only suggested that John's idea was a good one IF, someone else picks up the mantle and runs with it. But, it's way too early to discuss something because a lot will be learned from what takes place in this race about cars, preperation and such. As the sun sets on the Dynamic Challenge.... then is the time.
(And of course everyone will build a replica of the previous years winner...)

You could have had one heck of an eBay sale. Let's see 24 cars X ______per car = a nice vacation. Plus a little extra spending cash if you sold the spares.

Yes Bob, the Mazda Rotary Engine has 3 combustion chambers in each rotor. So the 2 rotor engine has 6 total combustion chambers, the 3 rotor engine has 9.
The postage to send Kinky Kar would kill me!
Great looking bunch of thingies!

Guess I am a little sensitive about showing some of my friends collection. I kept his name and the location secret to protect him from prying eyes.
He is very passionate about the hobby isn't he?

How much spares did everybody send? If they only weight 1-3 lbs for all of them I think they need to follow the cars. I would hate a host to get the cars and have one or two that needs tires or any of the other spares and not have the the ones the owner wanted fitted. It would cost more to then send to the host 1 set of tires out to wherever they are than to just let them follow with the cars.???
All my spares fit in what? 2 tire size tubes?

If you insist... I suppose I could add just the extra motor but to send all the stuff? No.
The majority of the field however followed instructions and included one set of spare tires as requested.
As you can see above, the cars are ready to be shipped. Each car gets it's own shipping box with plenty of packing material.
Under the lid is a 'data plaque' to ensure the car gets put back in the right box.
Also included are contact information and a list of parts sent with the car.
They are tucked under the packing material to the left in each box.
On the end out side is the name of the car and on the top a return address should the car need to be mailed home prematurely.
I will have news to report on the first race Monday or Tues.
