Sorry Tony, it was not a personal response directed at you. That is our standard answer in the vintage worlds. I forgot who I was talking to... I deeply apologize for the crass response.

Jairus, I recently checked out the 2011 dynamic thread and was pleased to see the Edotron running with a chassis I built years ago and was credited for in your wonderful description of the cars running. The car has changed with a different body and other mods but it did my heart good to see Edo still using it.

I just popped in here, and this looks like it will be a fun project. Count Ed Blake and I both in on this one. I'll build one for him and one for me and look forward to having entries in this upcoming proxy race.

Keep up the good work getting this race underway, it looks like a fun time. :dance3:

Well, some good, some bad. I had a kitchen fire. The good, no one hurt and my home still liveable. The Bad, gonna cost me at least 500 bucks ( thank goodness for homeowners insurance ). So I might not be able to get around to the build but I will be following it. Maybe we could have a wanna-be trophy for the almost made its? I can paint and stick some wheels under the body and look good.... Ugh, thats my motto, who cares as long as it looks good?

Glenn, we are not even starting until March or April with a possible race mid Summer. Plenty of time to get that kitchen repaired.
As for an update on the Choti Mule... it is now in Bryan Warmack's hands. He will be testing it out prior to the next D3 Race and will report back.

Thanks Jairus. April is perhaps too soon financially but mid summer could be a go! I am still put of by the cost of a set up jig. By todays standards, does any chassis NOT built on a jig stand a chance? Oh, and I visted your Fotki. The chassis you built for "The Realm" looks real close to what I ran, I just used much skinnier batpans and of course a wire front axle with 1/4" O rings.

Jeez, I was in the Melbourne store on Dec 11th and they had lots of it. I'll try to get there tomorrow on the way to "Brandywine Raceway".

Anyone needing some please PM me before 3PM and I'll see if I can get it bought for you. I do not have web access from my phone.

Bro-Ray, what is the name of the color you want? SubLime pearl? No rattlecan..correct?

Glenn, sorry to hear about the fire. Building without a jig would be possible but a major handicap.
I hope you can get it done, plenty of time, can you get a loaner jig?
Worst case, maybe you can proxie on in and turn some laps when they head your way.

Only if you've never tried building without one. A piece of thick glass (1/2" is best, but you can do it carefully with 3/8") or a scrap piece of granite from a countertop fabricator work very well. You can do very nice work without any jig at all!

Hey Bro-Rob,

It was tamiya's lime green metalic? I haven't seen it around in my area ether, as Tony mentioned the lack of their paint in his area too?
To bad! their paint was great. Sorry to hear about your fire Glenn. Hopefully you'll beable to get something together and join in on the fun.

It can be done without a jig. Some of the British guys build on graph paper & Rick Moore(CMF3) from FL builds on top of his paper drawings. I thought Al Penrose said he did much of his building without a jig too. :)

Glenn, The chassis that I posted (shown above) was built without a jig a couple of decades ago. I used graph paper to lay it out and a regular old $5.00 routed set-up block to solder on and it turned out flat. If I can do it you can too. Upon my return to the hobby in 2011 and Retro came to town I bought a jig and now I would not think of building a chassis with out a one.

John is right it is not really a handicap if you have experience building without one.

If you build off of graph paper be careful, no more fires....oops...sorry.;)
