While you're in civilization you really need to get that phone so you're not a slave to wi-fi to take pictures and post.

The jury is still out. Heard reports recently of 12 MPG on a 1930 coupe and other Model A guys say they can get 19 MPG on long trips. If I can achieve 15 MPG from my new car, I'll be happy.

Hopefully you will get closer to the 19. That is going to be a big gas bill either way. Stay between the lines and keep enjoying it!

In reference to the lack of pictures... SNAP TO! Just kidding...ish (not a paid subscriber so I really can't make demands. Actually I can, I just don't expect them to be met.)

If I can post it, this pic is of the '30 Ford I did back in 1974 and the roadster which I eventually turned it into.

Very much the same car as Cheater is attempting to drive across the US.

Dennis,

Greg is still trying to wrap his head around the concept if you get a 2014 phone you don't need to hunt out a McDonald's to post a pic.

He's waiting to get home to look into it... just in time for the next time he drives an antique car cross-country. LOL.

Hey Cheater,

When you leave Denver if you go up 287 to Laramie then across 80 to little America then go north on 30 to Pocatello will save you some miles. Do it in big truck all the time.

You're assuming a bit here, Mike. I'm not posting pics from McDonald's at all, just checking email and doing some Slotbog tasks.

Since I prefer to use a digicam for pics, because of the options it gives me, I don't use my iPad to post pics at all, unless someone emails them to me.

My problem isn't with the phones, it's with the usurious rates the cell service providers charge. There's a limit to what I'll pay for cellular coverage and up to now, the providers have all been above my number. If you wanna call me a cheap old fart, you'd be more on point.

Well, Greg, you're over two days into your trip and so far we learned Kansas is boring and you'll pay $11,000 for an 84-year-old car but NOT pay anything to properly document what you've portrayed as a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Hey Greg...

I'm also a "dinosaur". I can hardly connect to a cell tower at home and I live in a well-established neighborhood in Los Angeles... sure I can c-o-n-n-e-c-t but move six inches and I'm disconnected. I'm about to run around the house and paint circles where cell coverage is good enough not to be disconnected if you move... this is all carriers...

To the Verizon guy: NO!!! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

Look into T-Mobile... I hear (but not through a cell phone at home) they've got some pretty good plans that include unlimited data.

LOL... Two days where we drove as fast as the speed limits allowed for about 1,700 miles along boring intestates, with a significant portion of it in the dark.. Wasn't much to document, I can assure you and I don't really consider the mad dash to OR a memorable part of the adventure but rather just a grind.

The photographic documentation starts today... I'm editing pics right now and will posting about the day's activities in a bit.

A comfortable cruising speed in a Model A is 45 MPH. They'll go faster than that but not more than about 60 flat out, if they're stock.

John,

I realize that, but it's a constant struggle to keep the necessary revenue happening at Slotblog and it amazes me the number of active members who are logged in almost every day who seemingly don't feel it is necessary to support it in any way other than by their presence and posts.

A significant factor for all internet forums has the been the increasing percentage of viewers who access Slotblog via cellphone. This has had a discernible negative influence on ad revenues, as far fewer syndicated ads can be displayed to cellphone users as compared to viewers accessing from traditional computers or even tablets.

Many internet forums like Slotblog are instituting changes to enhance revenues, such premium content areas, membership drives, etc. I'd be dishonest if I indicated that similar approaches were not being considered for Slotblog.

My flippant reply was meant to point out (hopefully in a humorous manner) that, as a non-subscriber, there is no "money's worth" for you. If by your actions and your post above, you wish to infer that Slotblog is worth to you "exactly what you're paying for it", I can deal with that.

Keep the stories and the pictures coming!

Might I suggest a travel song as you're leaving Denver: Bob Seger's "Get Out Of Denver". (Denver's a great city, it's that Bob had a little problem there one time… I'm sure he's welcome anytime he wants to return)…..

I just saw Seger on Jimmy Kimmel.

People use to argue who's better, him or Springsteen.

I like both a lot.

That said, I can say Bruce has kept in better shape.

But I'll never be able to fault Seger much, after hearing him do "If I Were a Carpenter".

Agreed on both the last posts.

Joe Cocker lives in a small Colorado town near slot racing's nicest guy, Greg Norris.

Never cared much for Springsteen but I could listen to Seger all day. My favorite Seger song is "Turn the Page".

Cocker would have been fantastic singing "If I were a Carpenter".

But we digress.
