Most guys that use an axle tube, put some sort of wire U brace on top.
I think you know what I mean, but Cap has one on his chassis in post #2392.

A question though?
I have seen that most forkchassis is soldered just before the V-split in front of the motor?
As of now my little square tube is not soldered, what is the recomendation on that? Moveable or fixed?
If fixed at what spot?

I have also seen some chassis of this design with nothing at the Y...since yours can slide, try using something to hold it in place at various points to see what effect it has on the handling.

I agree with Mike S. Nice bending job on the tube brace.

JoB, here is a CR nose I used with 8 rails of .047 chassis I made a little over a year ago that has worked great for me just to give you some idea on bracing the uprights and pan stops. http://slotblog.net/...-69#entry522703
A motor is only as fast as the chassis it's in.

and now for something completely illegal...
5/8" fronts, 3/4" rears, 3-7/8" wheelbase, mini-brute motor, geared at 11/40. 1/16" brass construction, 94.5 grams w/o body. why did i build a car i can't even race with? because i can.

Nothing illegal 'bout having fun, Russ! Looks nice! Let us see it when it's all dressed up in a body.

I suppose a reasonable answer to this question is..........why did you put it there? What was your intention with that feature?

here you go, tex.
the purple car is the anglewinder, the red car is a legal in-line drive type.
the tiny front wheels are a bit weird looking; i might have to swap those later for something bigger.

I present my attempt at building a relatively simple stock car chassis. She'll be raced at HVR Retro East this Saturday. Hope she runs good, but I'll likely have to add a metric ton of weight to it
.062/.055 rail combo
Chicagoland guide tongue
RGeo bracket and pans
Shaker center weight
.062 hinges in 3/32 square tubing, movement controlled by a .047 bite bar in 3/32 square.

That body hides the motor nicely; well done!

It's almost like I designed it that way, doesn't it?
