That is nice Paul. I actually would preferer no helmet in the Bat car,  or at least have that as an option. 

 

I do not understand why he seems to be steering a truck steering wheel, its huge, no?

Yeah I agree about the big wheel but Larry should be able to modify it to bring the arms/hands closer.

I can make cuts under his armpits and bring his hands closer together no problem.  But who can print it   ?

Working on the interiors, I got 2 variations in primer and started on the final parts for the 3D printed model.

 

The main changes are the full 3D driver is now lower and has more room around the steering wheel. Also the seats will now be smooth so they can be painted different ways. They now the seat bottom is ..080" high and sit directly on the MDC floor as molded.

 

All the parts indented to be modelled are made in the flat then drawn, so Larry can work his magic and stick them all together in CAD. The top of the dash still in card stock, ready to make in styrene soon. 

 

I was going to cut the front pin mounts completely off as I thought there were just too big. In the end I thought I would give them one more look,I did cut the front mounts to there minimum size. still need a final sanding once the primer is dry.

Hmmmm, believe it or, I've never seen that before. In keeping with the thingie theme, I'd take the bat fink. Nothing against Black Jack ,I'm sure he'd be empressed with you're engineering prowess. Picking up a product that was beyond the engineering and, probably, financial means and seeing it to completion, speaks volumes.

I had not known of Batfink either Mark, but you throw me the ball ( from left field I might add) and I will run with it.

This looks like a '40 Ford coupe that's been chopped, channeled, & sectioned. It appears to have a '70s Camaro grill & '57 Chevy rear lights & bumper. I'm not familiar with this particular car. I wonder if it's steel or molded in glass. I do have a new '40 Ford coupe kit, but it won't look anything like this.

Working on the interior a bit more I wondered what it would look like as a T top? I did it first in photoshop and then set out to do it for real in styrene.

Priming parts help me see what I have and where I need to trim fill or change, its a guide coat really.

It's the same side as it is in the artwork so I just went with that, its has 2 equal seats so you can flip the driver on yours. (No not upside down Mark) side to side.

 

If you look at most of the Race cars of this period they drive on the right. Even the U.S. made Chaparrals. So a I assume the artists that rendered the advertising promotional artwork was influenced by this fact

Ok I thought Larry was the resin printer guy in this endeavor.

Larry (sometimes) takes my drawings and turns them into files/models that can be printed. Shapeways etc.

 

So we have spoken about buying this model of the driver and modifying him to our needs.

 

I have to build first hand as I am an analog guy. Then I can relate what I know and find out to Larry. Between us we brainstorm the best way to approach a particular issue.

Sadly Paul, I still don't own a printer but I'm thinking about taking the plunge and will definitely be going resin as opposed to PLA. I'm leaning towards a ELEGOO Saturn 4 Ultra 16K for those interested in such matters.

I've been in the market for a illuidm Q-36 space modulator for quite some time now.
The ELLEGOO Saturn 4 must be a new variant of space modulator.

It does not look much different but all parts are now glued and are as one. 

 

We will make this interior with or without the windshield frame and T top. My plan was the have the option of a Gullwing hinging from the T top.

I guess it technically will be called a Batwing not a Gullwing? 

 

Here are the latest pics. There will be a small rib .030" high on the T top to replace the canopy material when cut in half, it will also give a finished look.
