I did manage to get all 3 interior prototypes in primer Sunday.

The T top will have 2 versions with and without T and roll bar. I will add small corners gussets front and rear of the T bar, but that's about it, apart from fitting Batwing doors. Not exactly sure how they hinge ?

This is a really great example of how different items really can change the look of a body. These interiors give each one a very distinctive appearance. Great job. Great imagination.

Thank you Mark and Brian, Larry and I are still plugging away with more detailed parts for the Bat.

 

To keep all that are interested in building a MDC Bat up to date, these are test samples. The exhaust tips are Aluminum tube's and are a light press onto the sample part for a test fit.

They will be printed in black and when ready I will show pics of that. They are printed in resin for best detail.

Can't go wrong with Lambo doors. Might not be period correct but, bitchin way to swing a door. In the 90's,they were all the rage.

Front Valance and exhaust tips are being printed in black resin this week.

 

Larry and I are getting the interior test fit and getting it ready to print it also in black resin. Hopefully soon. 

 

We are still working on this part and as you see it needs it rear panel and the canopy mounting boss's.

 

 

But no Lamabo doors Mark, sorry, maybe just maybe I will do a one off body with Batwing doors.

I have had these for a few days, but finally got the chance to apply these pre-cut vinyl stickers. Way more durable that the paper label type I was using before having these and best of all the rear vents are cut out to perfection    

I do use pin striping tape on each side as a reference guide to keep me in the middle.

Peeling part of the backing paper and only removing a small amount of it gives you a chance to test the placement before committing to pulling it off completely. Once happy remove the remaining backing and press it down firmly. 

This is a pic of the first 2 I did to learn how to do it. It was suggest to me to give a few licks with a heat gun to allow the sticker to comply with the rear wing shape. Did not take much, just warm air really. I kept my hand behind the wing to feel the warmth. That's the only place a little heat is needed.

 

A few more details on the canopy holding interior and then a test print and all the kit parts will be done.

Cannon had the Bat Ray (Lancer body)

BZ had there Batmobile also a Lancer body.

Classic had there version.

Garvic did there's by painting a Bat logo on there Firebird.

MDC Bat was the only hard body but as we know that never went to market.

Was the whole mid sixties slot car world Bat crazy, is that where the term "Bat crazy" came from? I know it wasn't, but it sure fits.

The paint is a burnt metallic orange , wheels were on it when I purchased it .Ive never seen the wheels offered as an after market tire .

Exactly one year ago I started this post.

With the help of Larry, Gene and Matt we were able to get these parts so that a MDC Bat could be finished as MDC intended.

Larry was key to getting the CAD so we could 3D print multiples of these parts. Exhaust tips, front bumper and interior. Gene masterfully retooled to get a canopy that once trimmed fits great. Matt B was able to find a shop that printed the graphics in both orange for the black body and white for the red body, with the vent holes pre-cut. 

One of the major projects was how the canopy should be attached.What would MDC have done if they had put this car into production.

There was no obvious mounting clues on the the injection molded body, so i turned my attention to the interior.

There I could design a simple mounting method that would allow the canopy to snap on with out the need for glue.

This Interior was the last parts to get correct. Larry's dedication to this part and the project overall was incredible.

I would have just made 1 or 2 but with 3D printing, duplication is made easy.

To that end I hand made prototypes and with a plan Larry set to turn those into CAD. Then we make test parts until we had a final part ready.

Looking forward to building finished cars with certain variations. My work has been in the way at this moment but had to touch base to say its been one year to get here, Happy Halloween to all that have followed our project on Slotblog.
